At Japanese schools nearly everyone joins a club after class. Baseball, brass band, kendo, calligraphy. The ones who don't, who walk out the gate the minute the bell goes, are said to be in the 帰宅部 (kitaku-bu), the go-home club. It's the biggest club in the country and it doesn't have a single practice. This is its pennant.

It's a low-profile, unstructured baseball cap in 100% cotton fine-wale corduroy, soft from day one, with a gold-colored buckle on the strap at the back. No.03 of seven in the 5C5V corduroy series. Available in Olive, Navy and Black. Made to order, and US orders are made in the US.

Good to know

What is the 帰宅部? The go-home club. It's the joke name in Japan for students who skip after-school clubs and head straight home.

Is corduroy warm in summer? It's 100% cotton, so it breathes. Fine-wale corduroy is soft and light, and it's at its best from fall through spring.

What does 5C5V stand for? Five Cities, Five Virtues: Sapporo 希 Hope, Tokyo 夢 Dream, Kyoto 和 Harmony, Osaka 力 Strength and Yokohama 信 Trust. The corduroy series is the everyday side of Japan, the small things you only notice once you've lived there, numbered No.01 to No.07.

Is it embroidered or printed? Embroidered in white and maroon thread. The front is about 3.90″ × 1.59″ (9.9 × 4.0 cm), and the back is 1.75″ × 0.74″ (4.4 × 1.9 cm).

How does it fit? One size fits most, with an adjustable strap at the back. It's unstructured and low profile, so it sits close rather than tall. It fits heads from 20″ to 22″ (50.8–56 cm).

How do I look after it? Spot clean with a damp cloth and a little mild detergent, then let it air dry. Don't put it in the washing machine.

When will it arrive? It's made for you after you order: 2–5 business days to make, then 4–8 business days for US delivery or 2–6 business days for the UK.

Do you ship to the US? Yes. US shipping is $5.95 flat per order, however many items are in it. Your cap is made and shipped from inside the US, so there are no import duties or customs charges to pay.

Can I return it? Yes. Wherever you ordered from, you have 30 days from delivery to send back unworn, unwashed items. Swapping for a different size is no problem at all. A fault or embroidery problem is always on us.
