5C5V Daikichi (大吉) Corduroy Japanese Baseball Cap – Brown · Navy · Black

An omikuji fortune slip on a soft fine-wale corduroy cap: a red double frame with 大吉 in the middle, 第一番 down one side and おみくじ down the other in white. On the back, 大吉 over 5C5V No.01.

At a shrine in Japan you drop a coin in the box, shake out a numbered stick and swap it for a paper fortune, an omikuji. Most people get something lukewarm. 大吉 (daikichi) is the one you want: great luck, the top draw, number one. We drew it the way the slips are printed, with the frame and the side columns, and stitched it on corduroy so you can carry it around all year.

It's a low-profile, unstructured baseball cap in 100% cotton fine-wale corduroy, soft from day one, with a gold-colored buckle on the strap at the back. No.01 of seven in the 5C5V corduroy series. Available in Brown, Navy and Black. Made to order, and US orders are made in the US.

Good to know

What does 大吉 mean? Great luck. It's the best result you can draw from an omikuji, the paper fortunes you buy at shrines and temples in Japan. 第一番 means number one and おみくじ is the word for the slip itself.

Is corduroy warm in summer? It's 100% cotton, so it breathes. Fine-wale corduroy is soft and light, and it's at its best from fall through spring.

What does 5C5V stand for? Five Cities, Five Virtues: Sapporo 希 Hope, Tokyo 夢 Dream, Kyoto 和 Harmony, Osaka 力 Strength and Yokohama 信 Trust. The corduroy series is the everyday side of Japan, the small things you only notice once you've lived there, numbered No.01 to No.07.

Is it embroidered or printed? Embroidered in red and white thread. The front is about 3.98″ × 1.73″ (10.1 × 4.4 cm), and the back is 1.74″ × 0.73″ (4.4 × 1.9 cm).

How does it fit? One size fits most, with an adjustable strap at the back. It's unstructured and low profile, so it sits close rather than tall. It fits heads from 20″ to 22″ (50.8–56 cm).

How do I look after it? Spot clean with a damp cloth and a little mild detergent, then let it air dry. Don't put it in the washing machine.

When will it arrive? It's made for you after you order: 2–5 business days to make, then 4–8 business days for US delivery or 2–6 business days for the UK.

Do you ship to the US? Yes. US shipping is $5.95 flat per order, however many items are in it. Your cap is made and shipped from inside the US, so there are no import duties or customs charges to pay.

Can I return it? Yes. Wherever you ordered from, you have 30 days from delivery to send back unworn, unwashed items. Swapping for a different size is no problem at all.
