Neon Dawn — Shihatsu 始発 Embroidered Black T-Shirt

Cut from 100% combed ring-spun cotton at a heavyweight 6.5 oz./yd² (220 g/m²), this tee has a structured, regular fit that keeps its shape. Side-seamed, with a 1×1 ribbed collar, it's soft from the first wear and built to last.

Neon Dawn is our Tokyo after dark: the hours between the last train and the first. Shihatsu 始発 means the first train. At 04:58 a lone commuter waits on a wet platform, case in hand, while the departure board glows amber and the sun comes up behind the towers. Anyone who has missed the last train in Tokyo knows this moment: the night is over, but the day hasn't started yet.

Across the back, the full artwork is printed big, with NEON DAWN above it. On the left chest, our Neon Dawn sun is embroidered in orange, black and white thread: a striped half-sun on the horizon, ネオンの夜明け (neon dawn) beneath it, and 04:58 stitched in orange, the minute this piece happens. Made to order on Black, sizes S to 4XL.

Good to know

What is on the back? A Tokyo station platform at sunrise: overhead lights, puddles, the yellow tactile line, a departure board reading 始発 04:58 and a single figure waiting. Under the artwork, 始発を待つ (waiting for the first train), 04:58 in orange.

What is embroidered on the chest? A striped orange half-sun on a white horizon line, the words ネオンの夜明け (neon no yoake, neon dawn) and the time 04:58. Every Neon Dawn tee carries its own time.

What does 始発 mean? 始発 (shihatsu) is the first train of the day. 始 means begin and 発 means depart. Tokyo's first trains run from around half past four in the morning.

How does it fit? A regular, structured fit, true to size. Size up if you like a looser, boxier look.

Is it limited? No. It's part of our Neon Dawn line and is made to order for as long as the line is open.

Regular fit, side-seamed construction, 1×1 rib collar. 100% combed ring-spun cotton, 6.5 oz./yd² (220 g/m²). Embroidered left chest, printed back. Black, sizes S to 4XL, unisex. Machine wash cold inside out on a gentle cycle and do not bleach. Hang or lay flat to dry, and never iron directly over the embroidery or the print.
