UK-based alternatives to Kidoriman and imported Japanese streetwear

Kidoriman is not a UK shop: its terms give an address in Jackson, Wyoming, and it prices in US dollars. If you want Japanese-style streetwear from a UK brand or a UK shop, the options are British Japanese-inspired brands (MKI Miyuki Zoku, The Japanese Clothing Co, Superdry and my own label, 5C5V) or UK shops that stock the Tokyo labels (END., Dover Street Market London and BAPE's London store).

Last checked 7 October 2026. Prices are the ones listed that day.

What Kidoriman is

Kidoriman sells Japanese-inspired men's streetwear: relaxed trousers, hoodies, sweatshirts and tees. The brand says its name comes from the Japanese word kidori, and it talks about ideas such as ma and wabi-sabi. A T-shirt was $49.95 and a hoodie $59.95.

For a UK buyer the open questions are practical. Its shipping policy quotes 8 to 20 business days to Europe and does not list the UK separately. It does not say where parcels are sent from. I could not find a UK site or prices in pounds. None of that makes it a bad shop. It means you should email and ask before you order.

What ordering from abroad adds

GOV.UK sets the rules. On an order worth £135 or less, the seller should charge UK VAT at the checkout. Over £135, you pay the VAT to the delivery company, and customs duty can be added, worked out on the price plus postage, packaging and insurance. The courier contacts you before it delivers.

Time is the other cost. NEIGHBORHOOD's own site, for example, sends to the UK by FedEx for £20 and says to allow about two weeks. The WTAPS online shop delivers only within Japan.

UK brands that take their cue from Japan

  • MKI Miyuki Zoku. A UK menswear label founded in 2010 by Vik Tailor. It is named after the Miyuki-zoku, a youth tribe who gathered on Miyuki Street in Ginza in 1964. The clothes are contemporary menswear, not kanji graphics. T-shirts were £40 to £50 and hoodies £65 to £110, with UK delivery from £2.99. In my view it is the nearest match if what you like about Kidoriman is plain, relaxed basics.
  • The Japanese Clothing Co. Founded in 2022 in the North of England. It sells T-shirts with hand-drawn designs by independent artists, made to order, from £22. Look here for illustrated graphics.
  • Superdry. A British clothing company with roots in Cheltenham. Wikipedia describes its products as vintage American styling with Japanese-inspired graphics. T-shirts on its UK site were £19.99 to £29.99, which makes it the cheapest route here.
  • 5C5V. This one is mine, so judge it accordingly. It is a UK-registered brand that I design from Copenhagen, and it is Japanese-inspired, not Japanese. Each piece carries one kanji for one city, such as 夢 (yume, dream) for Tokyo or 力 (chikara, strength) for Osaka. T-shirts are £34.95 to £39.95, hoodies £54.95 to £59.95, and caps and beanies start at £29.95. Prices are in pounds and include UK VAT. Everything is made to order in 2 to 5 working days, then UK delivery typically takes 2 to 6 working days and costs £3.95, or nothing over £100. That is slower than a shop with stock on a shelf. I also do not sell trousers, which are a large part of Kidoriman's range.

The Tokyo labels, from UK stock

  • END. stocks NEIGHBORHOOD (T-shirts £45 to £95, hoodies £185 to £309) and WTAPS (T-shirts £65, zip hoodies £209). It sells online and has shops in London, Manchester, Newcastle and Glasgow.
  • Dover Street Market London is the one UK stockist on Cav Empt's own store list. Its online shop had Cav Empt T-shirts from £90 to £105.
  • BAPE has an official UK site and a shop at 24-25 Conduit Street in London. T-shirts were £85 to £89 and hoodies £220 to £399. UK delivery is £5.99, or free over £150.

How to choose

  • You want a real Tokyo label and can pay for it: END., Dover Street Market London or BAPE.
  • You want relaxed basics with a Japanese reference: MKI Miyuki Zoku.
  • You want illustrated graphics: The Japanese Clothing Co.
  • You want a kanji with a meaning you can explain: 5C5V.
  • You want Kidoriman itself: ask where it ships from, then order.

My longer guide to the Tokyo labels is the best Japanese streetwear brands in the UK.
