The Edo Collection has grown. Alongside the original Hokusai homage there are now four new art tees in the range: a shōgun study, an ukiyo-e portrait called Eternal Spring, and two 裏 ("ura", meaning reverse) editions that bring the artwork round to the front of the shirt. Here is what each one is, what it means, and how it fits.
What is new in the Edo Collection
- Shōgun 将軍 T-Shirt — heavyweight 7 oz. boxy tee with an ink-wash samurai commander across the back. Vintage White or White, S–4XL.
- Eternal Spring 長春 — organic cotton tee with a sunset ukiyo-e portrait. S–5XL.
- Katsushika Hokusai 裏 Edition — Red Fuji brought round to the front on the oversized boxy blank. S–4XL.

The Shōgun 将軍 T-Shirt
将軍 (shōgun) was the title of the warrior-commander who governed Japan from 1603 to 1868 — the Edo period this collection is named for. The print is an original ink-wash study of a lone commander standing beneath a rising-sun arch: drawn for 5C5V rather than lifted from a historical woodblock, and released under the 五哲彩堂 ("House of Five Philosophies") atelier mark.
It sits on the heaviest blank we use — 100% combed ring-spun cotton at 7 oz./yd.² (237 g/m²) — cut oversized and boxy with drop shoulders and a ribbed, reinforced collar. Size down if you prefer a regular fit.
Eternal Spring 長春
長春 reads as long spring, or eternal spring. The artwork is a quieter thing than the shōgun: a figure in a kimono set against a low red sun and open water, printed in soft ukiyo-e colour on 5.3 oz./yd.² (180 g/m²) organic ring-spun cotton that is GOTS and OCS certified, OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified and PETA-Approved Vegan. Medium fit, S–5XL.
Why there are 裏 editions
裏 (ura) means the reverse, or hidden, side. In the Edo Collection it marks an edition where artwork that normally sits across the back is moved to the front of the shirt on the heavier boxy blank. The same image, worn a different way: the back-print versions read as a statement from behind, the 裏 editions say it up front.
Fit, fabric and care
The boxy tees — Shōgun and both 裏 editions — run oversized with a drop shoulder, so size down for a regular fit. The organic cotton tees, including Eternal Spring and the original Hokusai and Seán Seachtain homages, are a medium fit and true to size. Every tee is made to order in limited runs, which keeps overproduction down. To keep a print sharp, wash cold inside out, skip the tumble dryer and never iron directly over the artwork.
