neon-dawn-shuden-limited-edition-framed-art-print-us
Neon Dawn — Shūden 終電 Limited Edition Framed Art Print

Neon Dawn is our Tokyo after dark: the hours between the last train and the first, when the arcades and ramen bars are still lit and the city slowly turns blue. Every piece is stamped with the minute it happens.

Shūden 終電 means the last train. At 00:42 it's already gone: two red tail lights sliding away along the elevated track, while a guy in headphones stands outside the station with the shutters half down and the ticket gates still glowing. Anyone who has lived in Tokyo knows this one. You can run for it, or you can let it go and see where the night takes you.

This one is a limited edition of 50. Every print is numbered on the mat under the artwork, from No. 01 / 50 to No. 50 / 50, in the order they sell. Once all 50 have gone, it won't be printed again.

Printed on heavyweight matte art paper and framed behind a wide white mat in black, red oak or white wood, it's made to order in 12 × 16 in, 16 × 20 in or 18 × 24 in. Hang it by the front door, for the nights you get home later than planned.

Good to know

What is on the print? A young man in a long coat and headphones outside a small Tokyo station just after midnight: shutters half down, bikes parked by the wall, the ticket gates lit green-white and the last train's red tail lights on the track above. Below the picture, 終電を逃した (missed the last train), 00:42 in orange, NEON DAWN · LIMITED EDITION and the print's own number.

What does 終電を逃した mean? 終電 (shūden) is the last train of the night, and 終電を逃した (shūden o nogashita) means I missed the last train. In Tokyo most lines stop around midnight, so it means a taxi, a manga café or a long walk home.

Which number will I get? The next number in the edition when your order comes in. Numbers go out in order, so the earlier you order, the lower your number.

What sizes and frames are there? 12 × 16 in, 16 × 20 in or 18 × 24 in, in a black, red oak or white wooden frame with a wide white mat.
